Pakshi is a birding app aimed at helping people explore the joys of birdwatching. It serves as an easy to follow bird book and provides a non-technical description of birds found on IISER Mohali campus. Data is currently being added in phases. This version is merely a sneak-peak of what is to come.
This app is dedicated to the grand old man of Indian ornithology, Salim Ali.
How to use the app:
The app currently only lists birds that have been recorded in IISER Mohali since 2014. The birds are listed family-wise and arranged alphabetically. The size of the bird with reference to four common birds (House Sparrow, Indian Common Myna, House Crow and Black Kite) is provided. A brief non-technical description and an image has been also provided for several birds.
The data presented here is the collective effort of the IISER Mohali birding community, especially students. We hope that the community will enjoy using the app and contribute to it. We also hope that it will help induct many more to the ever growing community of IISER Mohali birders. We welcome new members to the Pakshi team.
